Momentum is firmly on Coco Jones’ side, and she knows it.

The singer-actress is fresh off a GRAMMY nomination connected to her debut album Why Not More?,’ a moment that has not only elevated her profile but also reframed how she views her own journey.

Rather than treating the salute as a victory lap, Jones is billing it as confirmation that her instincts, hard work, and years of grinding are landing as intended.

And she’s harnessing all into her next era.

Speaking with PEOPLE, Jones first reflected on what the recognition for her debut era has meant to her on a personal level.

She shared:

“As for my debut album, I think it is a testament that I am not tripping when I believe what I am doing is good. I am a tough critic on myself, and it lets you know that you are not crazy. This is good work. The time, the effort, the vulnerability, it is not being wasted. People see it and they support it. As you get more success, you start comparing yourself to yourself. Before, you had nothing to compare it to. Now you do, and that can be intimidating. But it is also proof that you are on the right track. You are not crazy. Keep going.”

Turning her focus forward, the 28-year-old then shared how those lessons are shaping her next era, saying:

“This next era I am currently in feels like a phrase. ‘Got it. Let’s do it better.’ I learned so much through my debut album, and I was like, got it. Let’s do it better.”
