Drake is not letting his legal showdown with Universal Music Group fade quietly into the background.

The Toronto native turned up the volume on the drama by officially moving to appeal the dismissal of his lawsuit tied to ‘Not Like Us,’ the damning hit diss track released by nemesis Kendrick Lamar.

Full story below…

The original lawsuit, filed last January, accused UMG of defamation and harassment, alleging the label amplified the song’s success while pushing what he claims is a false and damaging narrative about him.

In October, a judge tossed the case, ruling that lyrics exchanged during a heated Rap battle would not be taken as factual by a reasonable listener. The standing read:

“The broader context of a heated rap battle would not incline the reasonable listener to believe the song imparts verifiable facts,” the judge wrote at the time.”

Now, the ‘In My Feelings’ MC has filed an opening appellate brief arguing that the lower court went too far.

He contends the track’s accusations were presented as clear statements of fact and warns that the ruling creates a dangerous precedent shielding artists and labels from accountability.

UMG is expected to respond by March 27. The legal heat with the appeal lands as buzz continues to build around the star’s upcoming album ‘Iceman,’ which has yet to receive an official release date.
