Despite its earlier streak of $1M+ weekly grosses and a strong 10 Tony Award nominations campaign, momentum has softened in recent months, prompting the scheduled closure.
The musical is based on the Universal Pictures 1992 film and made over 30 television appearances during its Broadway run, including musical performances on ‘TODAY,‘ ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show,‘ ‘Sherri,’ and more.
The production stars Michelle Williams, Betsy Wolfe, Jennifer Simard, and Christopher Sieber, with plans already underway for a North American tour launching this September.
The final performance of the 20-month stint is set for June 28.
