Lizzo is setting the record straight on her increasingly headline-grabbing friction with Nicki Minaj.
The singer has spent recent weeks fueling speculation with pointed lyrics, social media jabs, and even promotional material tied to her new album ‘B*TCH.’
Now, she’s opening up about where things really stand between the two stars.
Full story below…
Speaking on Drink Champs, Lizzo acknowledged the internet’s fascination with their back-and-forth and admitted that public feuds tend to attract far more attention than positivity.
“Fighting sells. It’s true. Beef sells more than anything these days. When I put out positive music and when I talk about loving everybody, I get roasted.”
Still, despite recent tension, the performer stressed that her issue with Minaj isn’t rooted in a personal falling out.
“She hasn’t done anything to me personally.”
Instead, Lizzo suggested her concerns stem from the rapper’s public behavior in recent years and the way she has spoken about people in her orbit.
“I truly don’t know her. I know of her. I don’t like how she moves these days and I don’t like how she talks about me and my friends.”
The comments come after Lizzo appeared to take aim at Minaj on the title track of ‘B*TCH’ and used one of the rapper’s previous social media disses as part of the album’s promotional campaign.
Even so, she also acknowledged the femcee’s towering impact on Rap, praising her dominance and admitting she couldn’t imagine the pressure that comes with remaining at the top while a new generation emerges.
Whether this latest chapter cools fiery or adds fuel to the furnace remains to be seen.
