Having once crowned her the “greatest living entertainer,” legendary rapper and music mogul JAY-Z has made no bones about praising his wife Beyonce‘s talent as a singer and stage performer.
And while millions of fans around the globe (affectionately called the #Beyhive) have shared his sentiment of adulation for the diva over the years, he still asserts there are major parts of her artistry that remain criminally overlooked.

While chatting it up with the press at New York’s Metropolitan Opera House during the premiere of his upcoming HBO series ‘JAY-Z in 8‘ on Sunday (September 13), the 25-time GRAMMY winner was quizzed on how Bey has inspired him over the years.
“I’m super inspired by her. I think she’s a phenomenal producer and writer, and she’s fearless. She tries all kind of stuff,” he told resident ‘EXTRA‘ anchor Mona Kosar Abdi before sharing, “She’s an amazing producer. I think because she’s such an extraordinary singer, people underrate the producer that she is. Yeah, she’s one of the best I’ve ever seen.”
This isn’t the first time JAY’s made headlines for praising Bey’s pen prowess.
In April, the legendary rapper discussed her songwriting and production abilities while being interviewed for his own inclusion in ‘New York Times’ list of the “30 Greatest Living American Songwriters.”
“The thing about Bey is she’s actually an underrated songwriter. She really can write songs. She does so much that I think what she gravitates toward is a producer. I think she likes songwriting, [but] she loves producing,” he told NYT at the time. “The things she does are unbelievable.”
‘JAY-Z in 8’ premieres Friday (September 18); watch the official trailer here.
