For, after again falling short of sales expectations with her latest album ‘Talk That Talk’, the model’s team are scrambling to secure certifications to save face.

Despite having sold just 370,000 copies in the States, ‘Talk’ was certified Gold by the RIAA over the Holidays.
And while seemingly a commendable feat, it’s important we assist in disambiguating any confusion Team Fenty are deliberately blowing into the air. You know, being the fair and unbias site that we are.
The 23 year old received the “honour” for 500,000 shipments of the album, as opposed to 500k actual sales. An “achievement”, which when put into context, cements her status as the Queen of all things Smoke and Mirrors. After all, the artists she’s so often pit against (and routinely placed above) stay farting out first week sales that she’s taking a month and some change to catch up to. I mean, which ever way it’s spun, the numbers don’t lie.
All gags aside, something has clearly gone wrong with the handling of her “surface-successful” career. Why, after 6 years, are the masses still not interested in buying her projects at point of release? Why must her campaigns be so reliant on the “force-feed em ’til they like it” model? Because if there’s no plausible response, one can only assume it’s because she’s wack.

Her team was crazy to have her do another album so soon anyway. I know they like to strike while the iron’s hot, but overkill can create disinterest or a backlash. This reminds me of the last Black Eyed Peas album that nobody cared about even though it followed on the heals of their most popular one.
The messed up part is that if the album doesn’t pick up and altogether underperforms then they’ll just rush her back into the studio to record another album that panders to whatever is popular at the moment, just like Loud after Rated R. I don’t think they think Rihanna’s career can survive taking an extended break.
I hope they don’t make her do another album, because it will under perform like this one is doing. She needs a break BUT her label knows she will be forgotten about. She’s only 23 and her career is starting to end. Too much non-talent being pushed in people’s face.

If, by your explanation, Rihanna is cheating, then those albums/people “cheated” too to get their certification. Hell, Beyonce’s 4 was certified platinum half a year ago and is JUST now passing the million mark in sales.
