The whole thing is blown way out of proportion. They’re talking about 1,000 cases in New York where the population is almost 9 million. One thousand people is not anywhere close to even 1% of the entire New York population. This is the biggest case of fear mongering the world has ever seen, and people like Ocasio-Cortez are taking advantage of it to make themselves look good. People need to wake up!!

@stan. As I was saying, 16,887 is still not even 1% of the whole NY population. And only 13% of the people who tested positive needed to be hospitalized. It is not hardly as widespread and as deadly as they make it seem. Do the math.

Please look up “exponential growth” and do the math.
It’s 1% of the population SO FAR, and growing rapidly with each day passing. You’re also not taking into account that testing is still not widely available, so the available figure is likely lower than the actual number. If we don’t do anything, it’ll continue to spread uncontrollably. You’re touting the 13% figure like it’s nothing, but the hospitals are already strained at the moment and will get overwhelmed soon (if not already).
For your sake and everyone around you, please don’t be dumb and take this seriously. You may not be showing symptoms, but you’re going to spread it to everyone else if you don’t isolate. And if you need treatment, you’re going to be SOL.
