Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard has officially announced 11 charges against Garrett Rolfe –  the recently fired Atlanta officer who shot and killed Rayshard Brooks in a Wendy’s parking lot.

After footage showed Rolfe shooting at Brooks multiple times in the back as the 27-year-old African American man attempted to flee the scene, national outrage followed with calls for the officer’s termination and indictment.

Now, those calls have been answered. Detail inside:

“A district attorney’s office in Atlanta announced 11 charges against Garrett Rolfe, the Atlanta police officer who fatally shot Rayshard Brooks last week, including felony murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon

Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard said that Devin Brosnan, the other officer on the scene during the killing of Rayshard Brooks, “has now become a state’s witness.”

Howard said that Brosnan “is not psychologically willing to give that statement today.”

Brosnan admitted “he was standing on Mr Brooks’ body immediately after the shooting,” the district attorney said. He will be charged with aggravated assault and two violations of oath, Howard said.” [source]

Brosnan, faces three charges, including aggravated assault for standing or stepping on Brooks’ shoulder after he was shot.

Chris Stewart, the attorney for Brooks’ family, praised Brosnan for his decision to testify.

“Even in dark times like this, you have to try and see the light, and the positivity of this situation is the courageousness of officer Brosnan to step forward and say what happened was wrong,” Steward said. “It is officers like that who change policing. I know he’ll probably catch all kind of problems and hate. That’s why you become a police officer: Do what’s right.”

Stupid. Paul Howard is up for re election. Not only is this a disservice to police but and disservice to the community. The public doesn’t know how to police so when they see police shootings or interactions they don’t know what is allowed and what isn’t. Just like they don’t know officers rights because they barely if it all know their rights.

The officer will definitely get off

They got the charges right with this one at least. Hopefully he is found guilty and sentenced! Keep recording these cops and holding them accountable!

How can you kill someone PERIOD, but especially after you just talked to the man for like 30 minutes and he was polite, called you sir, told you he had three young daughters and was visiting his mother’s grave? 😭 So heartbreaking and I hope those cops ROT in pure HELL!

Right. Some times I feel the should bring back death sentence for killing like this someone.

If someone can be so heartless to take another person life they too deserve DIE.

Ok so I hope y’all keep it 100 and publish any articles that come out with the roles reversed. Otherwise y’all can keep your biased and agenda pushing mess to yourselves. Way to help push the divide even further.
