Simone Biles has spoken up and out about her shock exit from the women’s team final at Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
The 24-year-old, who is the most successful female gymnast in US history, left jars ajar when she landed the lowest score on the vault in her Olympics career during the vault exercise. Shortly after, her formal exit was announced.

In a statement, Biles said:
“After the performance I did, I just didn’t want to go on.
I have to focus on my mental health. I just think mental health is more prevalent in sports right now.
We have to protect our minds and our bodies and not just go out and do what the world wants us to do.
I don’t trust myself as much anymore. Maybe it’s getting older. There were a couple of days when everybody tweets you and you feel the weight of the world.
We’re not just athletes. We’re people at the end of the day and sometimes you just have to step back.
I didn’t want to go out and do something stupid and get hurt. I feel like a lot of athletes speaking up has really helped.
It’s so big, it’s the Olympic Games. At the end of the day we don’t want to be carried out of there on a stretcher.”
Biles, who is still set to compete in individual competition on Thursday, also followed with a message of solidarity for Team USA:

Drug problem maybe????? Gone gurl
I met her at a meet & greet two years ago and she was super kind with everyone.
It looked like the pressure was getting to her starting with the semifinals. It’s strange to see that happen because she has always handled herself so well. With this exit, there’s a real possibility she may also drop out of the Gold Over America tour which she is supposed to kick off 7 weeks from now.
I don’t blame her. They penalized her for being the best. They moved the finish line to allow mediocre WHITE gymnasts to excel. I cannot imagine being a Black woman at the top of your game. White people are allowed emotion, yet Naomi, Serena and Simone are VILIFIED for not being grateful for the chance to be disrespected. Why should they when THEY have revitalized interest in gymnastics and tennis?! The jealousy is disgusting.
This!
She’s weak. She gave up on her team. She was glorified in this woke everyone gets a trophy era and she couldn’t take knowing she couldn’t produce a win.
Of course she’s being celebrated as “Brave”. Lmmfao fuuuuck off. She’s a quitter.
