OnlyFans is pivoting away from porn and the move may leave a number of its top performers worse for wear.

In recent years, the subscription platform had steadily been building a massive userbase of both performers and their supporters.
Over the pandemic, though, it became a magnet for a number of major music names such as Trey Songz (pictured above) and Tyga. The presumed allure was that, in being unable to tour, stars opted to cash in on their pin-up appeal. Quite literally.
And while OnlyFans gives performers the scope to churn out content of their choosing, the reality is that most (including many of the musicians who boarded) veered onto the more risque side of the tracks. With the likes of Songz and Tyga specifically featuring full-fledged adult content.
Well, it’s been announced that from October 1 2021 pornography will no longer be permitted on the platform.
A statement from the company read:
“OnlyFans will prohibit the posting of any content containing sexually explicit conduct. In order to ensure the long-term sustainability of the platform, and to continue to host an inclusive community of creators and fans, we must evolve our content guidelines.”
Interestingly, OnlyFans will continue to permit nudity “as long as it is consistent with our Acceptable Use Policy.”
Make no mistake, though. It’s a major game-changer.
