Carlee Russell has been charged in the aftermath of her kidnapping hoax.

As reported, the Hoover, Alabama native disappeared on the night of July 13 after calling the police and claiming that she witnessed an abandoned toddler wandering alone on the interstate.
A police press conference in the wake of her sudden return two days later amid claims of being kidnapped saw her story unravel in rather jaw-dropping fashion. She would go on to admit, via her attorney, that…it was all a lie.
Today (July 28), it has been confirmed that Russell has been charged with two misdemeanor counts for filing a false report.
As a result, she is now facing up to two years in jail and $12,000 in fines.
Russell was released from police custody today after posting a $2,000 bond.
