Has Ororo ‘Storm’ Monroe found a new vessel in actress Lupita Nyong’o?
The above, as fans of Marvel’s ‘X-Men‘ will already know, is a question that now sits on the lips of many after writer Simon Kinberg hinted at the possibility during a recent interview with ‘Comic Book Movie’, revealing that the actress has flown onto Marvel’s radar.

First introduced in 1975’s ‘Giant-Sized X-Men’, ‘Storm’ has been portrayed by ‘Monster’s Ball’ actress Halle Berry since the launch of the ‘X-Men’ film series in 2000, but may now have found a new friend in Lupita, who may now join Channing Tatum in 2016’s ‘X-Men Apocalypse.’
An excerpt from Kinberg’s ‘Comic’ conversation reads:
Simon Kinberg then confirmed that the 2016 film will not feature time-travel despite that being the main plot device in X-Men: Days of future Past. “The Apocalypse story has a lot of different ways of telling stories,” he said. “That was one of the things that I liked about Days of Future Past: Doing a time travel movie where it’s not just sending someone back in time, but actually intercutting between the past and the future that we really haven’t seen in a movie before. Usually you have somebody go back and stay in the past the whole movie. Apocalypse has some, without getting into detail, as you know from the books, has some innovative, different ways of storytelling also.” After commenting on recent Oscar-winner Lupita Nyong’o being a fan-favorite for the younger iteration of Halle Berry’s Storm—“I’ve certainly been reading about it; she’s a great actress.”
If Nyong’o does replace Berry, her arrival in the series will kick off on May 27th 2016th, the date of ‘Apocalypse’s release, and portray a young version of Storm one year before the arrival of ‘Wolverine‘, starring Hugh Jackman.

The x-men animated series was my absolute favourite show as a kid and storm my favourite character. I hope they get a good actress and do the character justice.
Side note: anyone who is thinking of seeing the new x-men I strongly recommend you to do so. It’s my new favourite marvel film and challenges as my favourite superhero movie of all time. Definitely the best movie of the year so far. 10/10 and the acting is great.

Yes we agree on something! X-men is my absolute favourite and DOFP is going to slay the box office. X2 was such a good film then they ruined the legacy by releasing last stand. It’s so nice to see such a critically acclaimed x-men film repair the franchise. It was nice to see storm actually look powerful for once (despite her low screen-time). Reminds me of when she created all those tornadoes in X2.
Yes im glad they showcased her powerful powers more in DOFP…. And I agree the directors f***** the X-men series up after X2….. I kinda like Dark Phoenix in Last Stand, but then they totally lost me after that, And Im such a huge X-Men fan!

The X-men: Days of Future Past was absolute perfection! It’s funny because my favorite superhero flick(s) before this last film were the first 3 X-men movies. Now this last one takes the cake! It’s so impressive!
I’m not here for replacing Halle, unless you’re switching up the entire cast. I love Lupita (she was excellent in 12 years…), but it’s odd for the writers to suddenly recast any of the original characters that already have made the series what it is with the newest “it”, Hollywood actors that come along… unless Halle wants out in this case! This will be epic! This is the perfect match! Storm was an AFRICAN WOMAN from a tribe so im still not understanding why Hallie was even casted for this part. What made Storm unique was the fact that she was a dark skin woman with white hair and features! I’ve been praying for a long time that she would get this part!!!
