Titled “The Real Housewives of Atlanta: Kandi’s Wedding,” the debut episode on Sunday scored 2.4 million total viewers, making it the best-performing spin-off from the franchise.
In comparison, NeNe Leakes’ “I Dream of NeNe” premiered to 1.6 million total viewers in September 2013 and Kim Zolciak’s “Don’t Be Tardy” debuted with 1.39 million total viewers in April 2012.
Burruss even beat out her first spin-off, “The Kandi Factory,” which only scored 671,000 viewers during its debut episode. After moving from Tuesdays to Sundays, “The Kandi Factory’s” ratings increased substantially.Bravo used a clever method to ensure the success of the 37-year-old Grammy winner’s latest spin-off. By titling the series “The Real Housewives of Atlanta: Kandi’s Wedding,” DVR’s and TiVo’s that already record “Real Housewives of Atlanta” automatically record the spin-off show.
According to TheWrap.com, Lifetime increased “Project Runway” spin-off “Under the Gunn” ratings by using the same method in the middle of the show’s run and renaming it “Project Runway: Under the Gunn.” That resulted in a 36 percent increase in viewership.
Bravo is clever. And kandi’s mom is something else. Kandi has nothing but leeches around her.
