After winning many a ratings race with hit shows ‘Scandal’ and ‘Revenge‘, ABC continue on in their efforts to offer their viewers diversity with the welcoming of ‘Cold Blood‘, an African-American led medical thriller.

Keep it locked on TGJ to discover which African-American actress scores the lead role!
FI.NA.LLY. I can’t believe that these execs took this long to acknowledge that black actors can slay in roles that aren’t related to the black experience. Thank you Aunty Shonda!

I just hope that the show will include a black couple. It just seems that dramas on major networks rarely display black love, the lead actor or actress is usually in an interracial relationship (Scandal, Extant, etc.) as if it will be too much to show these lead actors coupled with a black lead actor.
It’s a slow process. Executives now see African Americans will tune in but will Caucasians if neither lead their skin color.
Eventually they’ll get it until then patience is the key.
I get what you are saying but it’s 2014. If executives still feel that Caucasians won’t tune in for a black lead couple, when will they ever feel as though they will? Most likely there will always be the need to have the lead roles split among the races and if two lead characters are romantic the chances of them both being played by an African American are slim. It just takes an executive who is willing to take a creative risk and surround the black couple with Caucasian lead actors in other roles. It’s amazing to me that black people keep taking two steps forward and two steps back when in comes to being featured on major networks.
