Scandal & Orange Is The New Black Scoop Up Major Creative Arts Emmy Awards

Hit TV series’ Scandal and Orange is the New Black have picked up a total of four major Emmys at last night’s ‘Creative Arts Emmys’, one week before the 2014 Emmy Awards air live on August 25th!

Details on the shows’ wins below…

Beating five other women to claim the top spot, Black’s Uzo Aduba was handed the awarded for ‘Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy’, while Scandal’s Joe Morton picked up the ‘Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama‘ award for his role as Olivia Pope‘s father in the ABC series, set to return for its fourth season later on this year!

‘The Hollywood Reporter’ explains:

Morton topped five other men, including Man Men‘sRobert Morse, who would have scored the AMC drama’s first acting recognition had he won. Morse was widely expected to win tonight.

“When my category came up, I looked for a door marked exit,” joked Morton from the stage, acknowledging that he didn’t expect to hear his name.

From backstage, Morton expressed his appreciation for the award: “It’s an incredible feeling to have been in the business this long — this is the first time I’ve been up for one of these things – and given who I was quote unquote up against, it’s terrific.”

He added: “My head is in the clouds somewhere, and my feet are trying to touch the ground.”
