British supermodel Jourdan Dunn has announced that she is the first black model to score a solo spot on the cover of British ‘Vogue’ after thirteen years today, celebrating the achievement nine years after she was discovered by ‘Storm Model Management.’

Her good news after the jump…

The last black model to rock the publication’s cover solo was Naomi Campbell back in 2002, thirteen years before it emerged Jourdan was to cover its February 2015 edition.

She shared:

Her news marks another win for those hoping to eradicate racism in fashion, addressed by the likes of male model Tyson Beckford and the aforementioned Campbell who slammed the industry’s bias against models of colour.

We live in a sad world….. This is beautiful, but U gotta be kidding me; 13 years with not 1 other black woman? That’s terrible!

This is bittersweet… it took 13 long years??? wow, what is seriously wrong with people? Anyway congratulations Ms. Dunn, its such a shame cos she’s been proactive in the fashion industry for years; only for this to be her first British vogue cover.

Black people in Britain only account for measly 2% of the population so this isn’t really shocking. I somewhat think it’s a great business move for her to address this. It’s especially good for the white people in the British fashion business and hopefully they’ll be more black models in the UK getting magazine covers. She’s gorgeous.

Why do I have many vote downs. White people must be mad, or maybe it’s my haters like Career Struggles.

  6. NENE January 2, 2015

Know one cares about Vogue that much anymore. Vogue is overrated like beyonce, nothing special.

  7. Rosie January 2, 2015

Sad that it took 13 years for this to happen but really happy for her! If only American Vogue could follow suit instead of using the same borin b****** on every cover (*cough* Blake Lively).

      • I STAN(D) FOR TALENT January 2, 2015

Yes I did. Psshhhh… Like really bittch? Is that all it took for you to reply to me? God!!! You’re just one of the people who are obsessed with me. Nobody knows you or your fave and nobody even replies to your basic ass so you might as well give it up. This is the first time I @ you. Goo’ Bye.

      • HBIC_MamaPope January 2, 2015

BYE. you were the most dragged commentator on the New Years post LOL even on a festive occasion people still hate you – Done feeding you attention, because that’s the reason why you can stand to dedicate such a big portion of your existence to internet forums. shady messy queen with your recycled 2010 sandra rose drags, be gone!

Your pathetic attempt at dragging has me in tears. It’s like you’re running for president and you want the public to favour you. Sweety this is not the first time. Clearly you can’t can get enough of me, because you never say anything. I give you life and I doubt it will be the last. Nice try tho. I do love your persistence. LOL. 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀

oh Gosh LOOOL! was your new years resolution to not take your medication regularly LOOOL!! was not going to respond, but that was such a weakass comeback, and I was personally expecting more from you. You’re repetitive, unoriginal and ignorant, and your comebacks are always involve dated drags like ‘hoodrat’, ‘ghetto’ or ‘your drags are weak’ BYE! illiterate bittch and who the f*** hashtags in blog comments anymore, no-ones here to read your hashtag essays. and *death* and you posting receipts to your own dragging, last time I checked you were dragged by @TheElusiveLamb, @MariahIsMusic1, @Stephy, @CareerEnder all in one thread. enrol yourself in some classes in common sense and self-respect, and you on here constantly talking about other peoples education (I’m sure it’s really easy to decipher someone IQ based on a comment they leave on a blog), which clearly shows that your pressed about your own education or lack thereof.

  13. Paulo January 2, 2015

congrats to her! but let’s talk about how this blog spent the whole past year tryna shade Rihanna and yet it’s been more than 24 hours since a demo from hers leaked and… nothing but a overstretched Rita Ora quote. LMAO. the thirst is reeeeeal

  14. S****** Blonde January 2, 2015

That’s cute and all but she looks anything but close to the average black girl, reminds me when People magazine named Beyoncé ‘World’s most beautiful woman’ but she wasn’t representing the beauty of black women at all, wake up people.

    • Toohotfortv January 2, 2015

You’re white, right? Its funny because I actually have to somewhat agree with you. A lot of the top black “female” models are just… meh (imo). But on the same token, many of the white ones are too. Of course there are a lot that are stunning. But the top girls are just pretty girls. I think, for the most part, white people have no idea what black beauty is about. What’s strange about that is how obvious it should be, seemingly. These are supposed to be purveyors of art.

  15. JuJu January 2, 2015

WoW! Wait, didn’t certain black pop stars cover? I think they also qualify as models…

  16. blue January 2, 2015

i cant with people acting af no black person has covered vogue in 13 years only a black model

    • Toohotfortv January 2, 2015

Huh? What are you meaning to say?

      • blue January 2, 2015

        its meant to say
i cant with people acting as if a black person hasnt covered vogue when its only a black model who hasnt

my damn phone skips words and letters

      • blue January 2, 2015

im sorry but is this really an achievement when she looks nothing like a black girl on that cover… Its sad, 13 years and the message is:
you got to look white to make it

  17. Iggy, Queen of the pre op trannys January 2, 2015

    Werk Jourdan!

  18. Bella3 January 2, 2015

She looks like a white woman on that cover. If we can could just get Africa back to the the Amazing growing economy it use to be we wouldnt need to give a sh*t about what white people thought of us because we could just go back to the place we belong to in the World. We’re our children would be minority’s or the other they would just be them. And with over 50 country alone in Africa that would be more then enough money the just be ritch or middle class there & we wouldn’t need Europe or America.

  19. @RealMattPhoenix January 2, 2015

Naomi’s wig is so on point

  20. Bravo!! January 2, 2015

Congrats to Jordan Dunn for the cover of Vogue magazine!! This is a disrespectful issue to American people. I know their are so many other enthicity who hasn’t broke down their racial discrimination as well. And I’m starting to feel as Americans we will never break down racial discrimination. I feel as long as white Americans in charge we will continue to have these issue. They feel white is perfect and GOD only made one perfect creation. Whites will be the reason why the world end because of their small minded thoughts.

  21. Primadonna January 2, 2015

Ok and? When’s the last time a Latina, Asian or Indian graced the cover?

  22. Mark111 January 2, 2015

Kesha was the first White woman (solo) to grace the cover of Vibe. Gwen was the first period 5 years before. I hate how Blacks try so hard and hold White media up so high, yet call our own media ghetto and EBT.
