As the strapline on the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly highlights, FOX‘s show ‘Empire’ continues “rise, rise, rise” in both ratings and popularity.
So much so, it seems, that the network are reportedly mulling over taking the series on the road…literally.

EW has learned that Fox is considering staging Empire concerts, the same way it did a Glee tour for two summers.
“We are thinking about what the future is of the brand,” explains Dana Walden, co-chair and co-CEO of Fox Television Group. “What we learned on Glee and what we tried to do on Glee is be very cognizant that the music business is the tail of this dog—the show is the thing. But we are certainly looking down the line. There’s no reason not to think of having all sorts of ancillary opportunities with this show. We’re certainly thinking about idea of doing a live concert series.”
Hmm.
Cool concept, however we’re hoping the show doesn’t end up over-exposed. May sound like an odd “wish” given how important ratings are, however – from where we’re standing – overexposure is exactly what started the decline of ‘Glee’.

Very dumb, this is part of the reason why Glee didn’t last longer, don’t over saturate the public. Besides it’s only the 1st Season.

its differnt because these are ACTORS who pretend to be singers.. they can kinda carry a tune but they aren’t strong enough vocalists for ppl to pay for this.
The music on the show isnt even that good (My Personal Opinion)…. This would be doing too much!

Only tour if they get real artist to do songs. Let’s be real for a moment. If any of those people were to come out with an album would any of ya’ll be checking for Tiana, Hakeem, or Jamal?
I agree that maybe the structure of the show is not 100% ready for the exposure of a tour. But I doubt the tour is what killed Glee… it’s the opposite! the fact only Amber and Lea could actually really perform live plus their over-emphasis on modern day hits is what f***** it over.
This is why diddy did not let his son do the show. had he done the show he would have to sign over all his publishing rights to fox. if you’re just an actor its ok,but if you plan on going to the music business then they would own you a$$ and everything you do in music
