Shameful and shambolic might be two words one might use to describe Lifetime’s ‘Aaliyah: Princess of R&B’ starring the actress Alexandra Shipp.
Fortunately, it’s unlikely they’ll be employed to describe Marvel’s ‘X Men Apocalypse’ which will see Shipp play the African superhero Storm.
The movie doesn’t hit theatres until May 27th 2016 but has unlocked the first snap of Shipp as the character.

Well then you’re definitely not a fan of the comic franchise bc “this look” is actually very true to the character of Storm. My only issue is the casting in general. This girl is corny… and not just bc of the aaliyah shamble. She’s corny in every interview I’ve seen her in. She strikes me as the type who has no real awareness of herself.

She looks a little like Aaliyah in that top picture, beautiful girl. Moreover though, i’m looking forward, i’m a huge X-Men Marvel’s fan.

We are never going to get a Storm that looks like the one from the comic or the cartoon. They have made her weak and changed her skin color. I guess if she was dark she wouldn’t appeal to broader audiences. Hopefully she can prove that it was the awful writing on that Aaliyah movie that caused it to be a disaster.
P. S. Halle Berry was awful as Storm and brought neither the attitude or regalness of someone who was worshipped as a god.

Well Storm wasn’t light skinned in the comics or cartoon and she was second in command of the X Men not the scared weakling that Halle Berry and Bryan Singer made her to be.

I hate when ppl comment on things that have no knowledge about. Storm was born in Harlem, her family moved to Egypt when she was 6 and they were killed by a pickpocket. Years later as a t***, she ran into Charles Xavier. She later wandered into Wakanda where she began using her powers to help the ppl there overcome droughts and famine. It’s also where she met T’Challa (Black Panther) and they became husband and wife. She was worshipped as goddess and sorceress at times because of her powers. Now regarding the X-Men films, the original film’s producers wanted Angela Bassett, she turned it down, then they offered it to N’Bushe Wright from Blade, Janet and Iman, all 3 turned it down. Halle auditioned and got the part. I personally think Has a Pinkett would’ve made a great Storm. Yes, we all agree Halle is a beautiful woman, but we need to stop blaming Halle for an issue that is clearly due to the writers, it’s blatantly obvious the writers were not trying to focus on Storm, hence her having little character development and weak dialogue.
Excellent comment. Storm is not going to have a major storyline in X-Men Apocalpyse, but hopefully with the Black Panther Movie coming up she will have a big storyline with a better actress.
Nope, will not happen. Fox studios has the film rights to Xmen, Marvel is owned by Disney. Unless they pull a Sony/Marvel deal, it won’t happen.

Sidenote: Marvel aren’t even allowed to use the term mutant in their films. Another side note, Magneto is the father of Quicksilver and Scarlett Witch and Marvel couldn’t use it in the Avengers film.

I totally agree. Halley did what was brought to the table. We have seen her stretch and have a strong personality. HELL she played a women with multiple personalities. But the movies were never focused on Halley/Storm, rather every other white character and her as a third level character. I mean we saw Wolverine storyline with a prequel, we seen Cyclopes and Jean’s story and Raven’s but Storm was just there to be there.
the Storm she portraying suppose to be the future storm. So why are they calling her the younger storm!?

I know we wanted a true dark skin Storm, but this isn’t a reboot, but a prequel/atl timeline. So because of that, they have to go with a Storm that looks like Berry. They messed up by casting zoe kravitz in Days, she would had made a better pre-Storm.

Sorry. The X-Men movie franchise whitewashed storm. The character supposed to be from Kenya. Dark skin actress should have been used. Storm keeps getting lighter. The actress in the next film is beautiful, but she would be better suited for another part. If the character was make, and portrayed by a teenager; the director would pay more attention to detail. He likes to f%&! Young dudes. Just sayin….

After the abomination that was her acting in the Aaliyah lifetime movie i had higher hopes, but she’s here looking more Raven Symone and less Storm
