Kelly Rowland has been hard at work building her empire in both music and TV.
The latter has been particularly noteworthy for the ‘Motivation’ maven, thanks largely to her new BET talent search – ‘Chasing Destiny.’
Now, it’s being reported that the singer is set to flex her acting muscles in FOX’s smash music drama ‘Empire’ this Fall.
Find out about Ms. Kelly’s alleged role below…
E! shared the scoop:
“34-year-old [Rowland] will play Lucious Lyon’s mother in a flashback.
During season 1, Empire often featured scenes from Terrence Howard’s character’s past, which shows and his feisty now-ex-wife Cookie Lyon, played by Taraji P. Henson, during harder times before they built their powerful music empire.
Last month, Rowland hung out with Empire screenwriters, sparking speculation she may make an appearance on the show.
Said “hanging out” was teased by the show’s team on Twitter:

The second season of ‘Empire’ is set to debut on September 23rd and is confirmed to feature high-profile guest stars such as Chris Rock, Alicia Keys, Lenny Kravitz and Marisa Tomei, who will play a demanding venture capitalist.
If indeed true, this is an awesome look for Kelly.
Beyond the obvious perks of the show’s vast audience, the role outlined suggests she’ll be more than “just another celebrity cameo” and will hopefully contribute to the show qualitatively, while having time enough to still focus on music.
