‘Scream Queens’ Hits Ratings Sour Note/ Delivers Soft Premiere For FOX

It seems not even the all-star combo of Jamie Lee Curtis, Niecy Nash, Lea Michele, Keke Palmer, Nick Jonas, and pint-sized powerhouse Ariana Grande packed enough power to lure viewers into checking out the premiere of new horror/dramedy ‘Scream Queens.’

Receiving less than a royal welcome to small screens, ‘Queens’ was trumped by ABC’s heavily promoted reboot of ‘The Muppets’ – clocking less than half of the classic puppet primetime series’ viewers.

Ouch.

Get the numbers below:

Via EW:

ABC’s modern-day revival of The Muppets delivered strong premiere numbers, while horror comedy Scream Queens was surprisingly soft.

The Muppets had 8.9 million viewers and a 2.8 rating among adults 18–49 at 8 p.m., and the two-hour Scream Queens opener had only 4 million viewers and a 1.7 rating (rising from a 1.6 in the preliminary report).

But, even with their impressive showings, it was still CBS who reigned supreme over the week’s premieres.

CBS had the premieres of NCIS (17.8 million, 2.4) and NCIS: New Orleans (12.5 million, 1.7), both down a bit from last year, with the flagship having its softest premiere ever.

NBC’s The Voice (12.1 million, 3.4)…ABC’s ‘Dancing With the Stars’ (9.5 million)…

I’m sorry, but there’s not enough beautiful, buttery brown-toned people in the show for me to watch it. Plus, most of the actors and actresses are horrible. I’ll pass and continue to pass.

I turned the TV off after Ariana died

The way Ariana died had me dyingggg, the show is a bitchy, camp bit of fun and I’m not complaining, here for it.

I love the show! I think it’s so entertaining. And it’s so funny, I love how they all over act, but they’re still really good actors. It’s kind of hard to describe, but they all know how to be over the top without looking like amateurs. It’s great.

I also love how Nick’s character is gay! I think it’s cute how Nick is so comfortable in his skin that he’s cool with playing a gay role. Many straight men would reject having anything to do with playing a gay charachter, unless they’re playing a stereotypical one in an effort to bash the gay community. But I noticed that Nick’s really for the LGBT community, and there aren’t many straight men that are outwardly supportive of gays, and I really appreciate him for it. Especially since he’s famous and he has a platform!

Anyways, the show is lovely and I can’t wait to find out who the killer is.

It’s because their target audience are all glued on their laptops and mobile phones

Not surprised the previews looked corny.

Poor Ryan Murphy. Pandering to white gays and 14 year old Tumblr girls won’t bring in ratings. I thought he learned this last year from AHS Freak Show.
TVBTN will be a mess tomorrow when Empire’s numbers come in.

Speaking of, this just proves FOX will do horrible this year in general just like last. SQ & Minority Report bombing, lmao. New Girl will go fractional when it returns in the spring and will get cancelled for good even with all the “Megan Fox!!” hype; I still haven’t seen any ratings for its reruns in the US which probably means that they’re not doing well. Mindy is probably kii-ing over at Hulu.

And Drake is probably kii-iing @ Lonela’s #s rite now @ Apple Headquarters. KIIII

Those #s aren’t 2 bad. I wud just think with so many young t*** idols being n the show that they wud do huge #s along the lines of at least Dancing with the Stars. Still, 4 million iz kool…

  9. What now September 23, 2015

I c TGJ iz (once again) protecting their Queen’s image. If Rihanna had a post on TMZ about donating $15 million to Donald Trump she’d have 5 different articles rite now. Carry on TGJ w/ ya’ll shady azzez. I live 4 it (some times).

It was alright…. Might get better as it goes on

  11. YoursTruly September 24, 2015

4m isn’t bad though…. Gotta give it a few more episodes before trying to make it seem like a “flop” .

TV is like music these days. It is just a different time. These shows with younger audiences will probably watch it on dvr. Older skewing shows tend to have higher ratings cause those audiences actually watch it whole its on. The entertainment industry is really messy right now as far as trying to chart how we consume entertainment.

I knew this show would be a flop. It screams cheesy, the title sucks, and they are doing all this promo for a show that hasn’t even proven itself.
