Hollywood has a new star on its hands…and his name is John Boyega.

Find out why he’s on course to becoming one of the entertainment industry’s most sought-after actors below…

The British actor (who is of African descent) is the star of ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ and has joined Lupita Nyong’o and Harrison Ford  to push the movie’s pre-sale tickets over the $100 million sold mark.

Set to add major value to Boyega‘s bourgeoning brand  the movie’s sales see it outperform the $25 million ‘The Dark Knight Rises‘ advance sales swept up in 2012 and push it towards becoming  one  the highest-grossing movies of all time .

The Hollywood Reporter:

Tracking services suggest Force Awakens will debut in the $180 million-$220 million range in North America. December isn’t known for huge openings, since many consumers are distracted by holiday preparations and holiday travel the weekend before Christmas. Rather, holiday titles can have huge multiples, thanks to the stretch between Christmas and New Year’s weekend being the most lucrative corridor of the year in terms of moviegoing.

ehh. what? i thought it’s star wars… not solely boyega. damn blackness boast. why you do that? sure… he’s now part of the fame. congrats.

He’s the star which is why it’s positive. Don’t be a hater darling. Kevin the dog must be sweating now there are black actors getting serious roles and killing them without having to mock and insult their own people. Poor, pathetic midget he is.

YAAAAAAAS… Not King John SLAYING the box office like this though.

I’m so proud of these BLACK BRITISH actors doing so well in Hollywood – Idris Elba, Chiwetel Ejiofor, David Oyelowo etc. Also, I’d be PISSED if Idris doesn’t get that is car nomination!!!

    Actually, screw the Black-Brit thing…

THEY’RE BLACK; PERIOD. WE’RE ALL ONE.

I thought they were human first and foremost. I guess color matters after all.

White supremacy is the reason people see colour before humanity so take it up with racists. Black people have to work twice as hard just to get where mediocre white people are hence the celebration of Johns success as a black man. If you find it difficult to accept that white supremacy is alive and kicking go and watch a Tyra Banks interview about her journey and then tell me if the racism she has faced was all in her head.

In the comment you left below you acknowledge that Johns skin color works against him. Why then do you act as if we are crazy for celebrating what he’s helped Star Wars to do (even if it’s by just a little) when you yourself are aware that he was removed from the movie’s poster because “some people don’t like black people.” We celebrate his role because it was successfully achieved IN SPITE of people who “don’t like black people” trying to stop him.

    Sometimes blacks are so stupid.

It’s not about him it’s about brand.

Ppl go to see this movie only because it’s starwars.

Not because unknown black guy lead.

    • Black and Proud December 16, 2015

The fact you said “blacks are stupid” is the very reason the person who wrote this article wrote this article. John has achieved what he has achieved in the face of people who like you who think people like him “can be stupid.”

    • Nicki Been Bad December 16, 2015

If his race is so irrelevant why did the movie’s Chinese distributors remove him from its official art work? It would have done well anyway but the fact of the matter that he, a black man, is the star of it and that is a big deal considering the world we live in.

      • OMG Logic!!! December 16, 2015

Because Asians don’t like Black people. We are not part of Asia. This post making it seem like John had anything to do with the movie’s success is utterly ridiculous just like it was with anyone suggesting Hayden Christiansen had anything to do with the prequels success.
Star Wars is a brand, a massive brand. It would have been successful no matter who the lead was. Well no. If the lead had been a gay man or woman it would have been boycotted, but other than that, it would have been successful no matter who the lead was.
