As her time thrilling fans as Shug Avery on Broadway’s ‘The Color Purple’ comes to close, it appears Jennifer Hudson‘s love of musical theater will continue as reports indicate her next big project will come in the form of headlining the legendary ‘Hairspray.’
Tackling the role of “Motormouth Maybelle,” the production is next in line of NBC’s hit-making remakes of Broadway’s biggest numbers (‘Sound of Music,’ ‘The Wiz,’ etc.). Get the details below:
“Hairspray Live!” will air Wednesday, Dec. 7 at 8 p.m. ET/PT and will originate from Los Angeles.
“Hairspray Live!” reunites Hudson with executive producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, who worked with her previously on NBC’s “Smash” and the 85th and 87th Oscar telecasts, which they also produced. – source
