Sales of Mariah Carey‘s music may have slowed, but the songbird is accelerating full speed as a media mogul.
It’s been announced that she is building on last year’s partnership with Hallmark, this week signing a multi-year partnership with the network.
According to Deadline, the diva has inked a three-picture deal with the channel to “develop, executive produce, direct and co-star in a trio of original movies and compose and produce an original song for each”. This comes after the success of her 2015 Holiday movie ‘A Christmas Melody.’
Per the report, the first project in the new two-year partnership is slated to premiere during the channel’s 2017 Countdown to Valentine’s Day programming event.
In a statement, Michelle Vicary, EVP Programming at Crown Media (Hallmark’s parent company) said:
“We are honored to continue our collaboration with the multi-talented Mariah Carey. It’s rare to work with a talent who can produce, direct, star and also compose original music for a project, and we know she will deliver for our viewers once again.”
Between Vegas, touring, and her TV ventures, it’s great to see her not slowing down at such an advanced stage in the game. If anything, she’s doing more (at once) than ever before.
She’s always prided herself on writing her own music, but with sales down (and not just hers), it’s a smart and necessary move to diversify her revenue streams.
