Viola Davis‘ portrayal of the character Amanda Waller has gone a long way to push the movie ‘Suicide Squad’ to insanely awesome box office levels.

Good news below…

The DC Comics release also stars Jared Leto, Margot Robbie and Will Smith and, much to the delight of Warner Bros’ execs, has generated $466 million globally.

$222.6 million of this was earned in the United States, giving its producers good reason to put plans in place to build its sequel even before it rocks Japanese theatres on September 10th.

Production for said sequel, which Smith will star in, kicks off in 2017.

How much its critically panned but commercially potent original cost to create?

$175 million.

Outside of the United States, ‘Squad’s biggest market is the United Kingdom where it has generated $29 million.

Behind it? Brazil, where its box office numbers sing to the merry tune of $22.9 million.

Unfamiliar with Davis’ Waller?

‘Comicvine’ explains:

Raised by her grandmother who turned her out of her home when Amanda was a teenager, she at some point joined the United States Army, where she acquitted herself well as a soldier. She was assigned to Team 7, a black ops unit which met with a disastrous end, and briefly retired. Following a final mission in which all other agents, including a close childhood friend, died in defence of American interests she formulated a plan to create a black ops team composed entirely of expendable members, primarily super-villains. She was placed in charge of the newly-created Task Force X, otherwise known as the Suicide Squad.

So proud of her! Her Oscar is coming soon, so she need not to worry. I hope the movie can somehow push to the $1,000,000,000 mark for worldwide box office revenue.

how do you screw up a movie with will smith, joker, harley quinn and viola davis? like how? and its a comic book movie they could have literally stolen the storyline from any dc story line. WW and JL better deliver or its curtains for the DCEU and we the fans have to wait another 20 years before they attempt again. and that is a awful picture!!!!

The movie was ok, honestly Viola was the best thing about it.. the CGI was horrible & the girl who played Harley Quinn did an awful job in my opinion; purely based off of her inconsistent accent.. everyone knows that Harley Quinn has a VERY strong brooklyn/staten island’ish accent its literally one of Harleys most defining characteristics, which Margot did not deliver. Low key Yael Stone (lorna morello from oitnb) would’ve bodied this role!! Don’t get me wrong Margot definitely looked the part and her mannerisms were on point but her accent was inconsistent and cringe worthy.
