Colin Kaepernick’s decision to sit during the playing of the U.S. National Anthem in response to institutionalised racism against African-Americans has seen him earn a supporter in Steph Curry.

Full story below…

Oh, say! can you see by the dawn’s early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming;
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, through the perilous fight,
O’er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket’s red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there:
Oh, say! does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe’s haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o’er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning’s first beam,
In fully glory reflected now shines in the stream:
‘Tis the star-spangled banner! Oh, long may it wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

And where is that band who so vuntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle’s confusion
A home and a country should leave us no more?
Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps’ pollution!
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Oh, thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war’s desolation!
Bless with victory and peace, may the heav’rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation!
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: “In God is our trust”:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Unbeknownst to many before Colin’s protest, the third verse of the anthem celebrates African-American chattel slavery and has prompted many to throw their support behind his cause.
Now, after fans showcased their admiration for his stance by making his jersey the highest-selling in the National Football League he has learned that Curry has weighed in on the matter.

Why do people only listen when light skin conventionally attractive celebrities are upset?

    • Ughhhh September 12, 2016

Regardless they are still black, but I get your point.

    • Miguel September 12, 2016

Nope, people listen to kanye and pink

      • Ughhhh September 12, 2016

Kanye? What does he do for the black community, besides make rants and pretend to be an inspiration speaker about how black people are treated but then transitions to talk about himself?

Does it f****** matter? Back in the day they’d be slaving away like the rest is. If that was really the case then celebs of darker hues should start speaking up more.

      • Danzou September 12, 2016

@America shut up. You’re obviously an idiot. If this was back in the day then they’d my in the HOUSE not the fields.

And!??? Do you think masta would give a f*** ya dumb ass. We would all still be ENSLAVED. Slavery is slavery. He’d still be treated like 3/5ths of a person at the end of the day #FACTS.COM

I don’t care for Curry’s opinion. He gives back to the community by charging the youth 2k for his basketball camp. He doesn’t care about the community they should ask people who are more involved instead of the high profile money hungry vultures who are only looking out for themselves

Steph speaks out after others speak. If he spoke out immediately I would respect his comment.

he is a wait and see type of person

You should be glad that curry and Collin are joining forces. That’s the only way we can make an impact. Our voices won’t be heard if only one person is speaking out about the issue.

If we don’t come together then there’s really no f****** point. It would all be pointless for other black athletes not to stand behind Collin and he would have taken an L for no reason.
