Scribbled in history books for some good and not-so-good reasons, 2016 brought with it some of modern music’s most memorable moments.
Now, as the year draws to a close, TGJ is reflecting on 31 moments that rocked – and to some degree shaped – the Urban and Pop entertainment landscape as we know it.
Next? We reflect on how ‘Clueless’ should’ve been the name of Stacey Dash‘s autobiography…
2015 may have seen Dash ruffle her fair share of feathers thanks to a regular spot on Fox News, but her controversial antics flew to new heights in 2016.
First, she prompted a Twitter backlash after asserting ‘Black History Month’ be discontinued (read that here). Next, she made a complete fool of herself at the 2016 Academy Awards by being unknowingly trolled for her controversial outlook on ‘Black History Month.’
The Academy Award, which was already suffering from criticism for the lack of racial diversity among its nominees prompting the hashtag #OscarsSoWhite, suffered a dose of awkwardness with this:
Her f*ckery continued well into the summer when she slammed Jesse Williams’ impassioned ‘Black Lives Matter’ speech at the 2016 BET Awards by branding it an “attack on white people” (read more on that here).
Finally, her shenanigans found her reaching for wig glue after her failed attempt to shade Tina Lawson (Beyonce’s mother) resulted in some serious #Beyhive stings (read more on that here).
Somebody help this chile…
