BET is to reintroduce the world to Nelson Mandela‘s story via a miniseries starring Laurence Fishburne.
Set to air between February 8th and February 15th, the project is named ‘Madiba’ and will stand as one of many programs built to support the platform’s ‘Black History Month’-centred schedule.
This miniseries is not to be confused with Jennifer Hudson’s Mandela project ‘Winnie’ which impacted the U.S. on September 6th 2013.
Teaser below…
Two Mandela autobiographies, ‘Conversations with Myself’ and ‘Nelson Mandela by Himself’, were used to create the project in South Africa.
Our friends over at ‘Shadow and Act‘ add:
The film is directed by Kevin Hooks (“Passenger 57,” “Prison Break”) from a script written by Paul Webb (“Selma”), Jane Maggs (“The Offering,” “To the Teeth”) Janine Eser, Avie Luthra (“Lucky”) and Kathleen McGhee-Anderson (“The Fosters,” “Lincoln Heights,” “Touched by an Angel”).
We can’t wait to tune it.
I’m going to enjoy this
Beautiful. Black people, educate yourselves and then build and create. Shop at black businesses, and bank with black banks. Black business owners, ensure your service is equal to and greater than your competition, so that our people want to shop with you. It takes $1B to run for President. Some day there will be another black man running for President that will need funding. Lets be the generation of wealth that can make change. Money is power. We have to do it ourselves. They do not want us here.
Can they not please!!!
.
We have many great actors and actresses who can play these movie roles
.
Bye!!!
We already got great Nelson Mandela movies. Why are they keep reinventing the same movies back to back? Like ??
Awesome
