BET’s New Edition miniseries has set a new ratings record for the platform with help from the millions who tuned in to catch its stars (pictured above) in action.

Much to the delight of the original group and the miniseries’ makers, its first chapter (which aired on Tuesday the 24th of January) swept up 4.4 million viewers.
With this, it becomes the highest-rated BET premiere in five years.
Crossing the 15 million mark when unofficial numbers pulled from illegal video streaming sites and DVR digits are thrown into the mix, the opening chapter also dominated all social media platforms with 1 million New Edition-related discussions generated on the night.
Said interactions gave birth to several trending topics.
These included #Betamax, #BobbyBrown, #CandyGirl, #MikeBivins, and #LukeJames.
Ratings for last night’s second chapter are yet to be released.

This is major and should’ve went to the big screen. If black ppl can show up in droves for Tyler Perry flicks and Straight Outta Compton,don’t see what makes this any different given these good ratings. Sidenote: The chick who plays Bobby’s mama facial expressions are a KI! “Where’s the money at? Ya fired! Punk ass manager.”?

I just know he’s going to act a fool tonight. & I can’t wait to see how the put together the “Home Again” album (which was a classic) & the drama on their tour ! & what happened to Ricky ?
Great mini series so far. The acting, direction, and musical performances have been on point so far. NE really had some bumps in their careers. I agree the actress who is portraying Bobby’s mother Carol Brown is a joy to watch!
