OJ Simpson is heading home.

After serving 9 years in prison for robbery, the former sports hero has been granted parole by a US judge.

Details below…

The news, which was announced moments ago, came with confirmation that the controversial star – now 70 – will be released in October.

Simpson, once a loved NFL player, earned notoriety like no other when he was charged and eventually acquitted for the murder of ex wife Nicole Brown in the mid 90s.

That verdict caused passionate debate about race relations in America and beyond and remains one of the court system’s most enduring mysteries.

It also formed the basis of an Emmy winning FX series starring Cuba Gooding Jr, John Travolta, and Courtney B Vance.
