Issa Rae Becomes The New Face Of ‘Cover Girl’

Published: Tuesday 12th Sep 2017 by David

Issa Rae‘s ‘Insecurities’ have turned her into one of the most powerful women in television.

Keen to embrace her success? CoverGirl, the brand which has paid the creative beaucoup bucks to stand tall as its new representative.

I remember being an awkward black girl in high school, reading the pages of my favorite magazines, casually flipping through @COVERGIRL ads, singing their slogan in my head. Never EVER in my life did I imagine I’d be one. I am SO honored and SO excited for what’s to come. Visit @COVERGIRL to learn more #COVERGIRLMADE

Rae announced the news today with this beautiful statement:

My character is ever-evolving, and makeup is a tool to help transform my persona – whether for a role I play in content that I produce, or the different roles I take on in my life. Becoming a COVERGIRL means a lot because the brand recognizes just how important it is for people to embrace their individuality and express themselves in unique and diverse ways. This has been a major part of my personal journey, and a message that I want to share with others.

Her partnership with the cosmetics giant stands as another victory for those who seek to encourage the industry to embrace the beauty of diversity.

Last week, said champions welcomed Rihanna’s brilliantly inclusive ‘Fenty Beauty with open arms after celebrating beauty-backed wins scored by Jackie Aina.

See folks, keep you African hair. African skin. African features and stay black. The opportunities will come if you stay true instead of trying to be European. Wonder will CIara ever? Homegirls tries so hard to be a European lady
