People power just gifted Will Smith his latest win. Because, despite new movie ‘Bright’ being lashed by critics, its success with the viewing public has seen the cop/Sci-Fi flick awarded a sequel by Netflix.
Dive below for details…
As reported, the movie – which fuses fantasy with action – was streamed over 11 million times during its first three days of availability. And that’s just in the US. It also topped viewership across the 191 countries Netflix is available in.
Said success has seen the streaming giant officially confirm today that it has re-upped for a second instalment.
Smith is back on board, as is co-star Joel Edgerton. Director David Ayer is also returning; he’s also been tapped to take-over writing duties for the sequel.

With the Netflix model so vastly different from traditional cinema, there’s no word on whether the original is on-course to recoup on its whopping $90 million budget. But it’s safe to say that it must not be doing bad (at all) for a sequel to be confirmed after just two weeks.
Congrats! I love to see my black Kings and Queens winning and securing the bag. And even after critics TRIED to destroy his movie, I’m gagging. Best revenge is your paper ?
RIGHT!!!! The critics really tried to take this man down! I’m enjoyed the movie!
i found the movie mediocre!i hope in a better sequel
Its to for a new ‘Critics’ system to be put in place.
I love it hope there’s a sequel, sometimes critics go overboard.
