Marvel‘s ‘Black Panther’ is officially the highest-grossing superhero movie in U.S cinematic history!
Good news below…
The African action adventure picture flew into theatres on February 12th 2018 and has earned a phenomenal $1.2 billion worldwide since its unveiling!
Yesterday, its U.S ticket sales made it the highest-grossing superhero in the nation’s cinematic history, casting a socially-conscious and uplifting shadow over the likes of ‘Batman vs Superman‘, ‘The Avengers’, ‘Blade‘, ‘X-Men‘ and ‘Captain America.’
A release date (or plot) for its Chadwick Boseman-led sequel is yet to be unveiled.
Although I’m not black so I ca t relate, as an extremely dark Asian I’m happy for this movie and it’s ppl.
That’s incredible! I hoped it would resonate with audiences but what it’s done has been incredible. Also, even though I’m this was a team effort interms of audience participation. Every demographic came out for BP.., and cos of it’s close relevance to Infinity War, damn I bet even clan members went to see it lol. Kudos to all involved. The pressure on the sequel is immense now though.
I have lice.
So switch your weave girl
I only like ethnic movies that are s**** narratives. There should be more movies of blacks saying ‘yessa massa’ and ‘Massa please don’t beat me’. Lets Make America Great Again. #KKKG—KKK For Gays.
Hey Shaniqua how is your Sunday going? Did u go Roc church today? Did you catch the Holy Spirit and fall all over the floor? Mmm I bet the after church banquet was amazing: fried wings, spaghetti, bag salad, pigs feet and collard greens. I hope u didn’t wear ur Jordan’s tho that would be so disrespectful sister. Love u
Congratz.
That is wonderful news. Congratulations.
Hey sis what time are you coming to family dinner tonight ? I need to know what time to start the black eyed peas
So first the positive, So So Happy for this movie! Who fathomed this crowning achievement was even a possibility upon its release? Surely not I. Although I had nothing to do with the creation of this movie, I oddly want to take pride in its success as if it were mine. As someone else stated, this puts so much pressure on the sequel. Hopefully BP hasn’t peeked early.
As for the negative, this sets Infinity War up in the biggest way. Already pre-ticket sales have bested Black Panther. And the last bit of negative, if we are going to be accurate and fair, BPs is #1 not accounting for inflation. Meaning, ticket prices have inflated since 1990s. An adjusted look:
Spider-Man ($403m in 2002/$638m adjusted), The Dark Knight ($534m in 2008/$684m adjusted) and The Avengers ($623m in 2012/$705m adjusted)
BP will catch Spidey inflated figures and possibly the Dark Knight , never the less BP should still stand tall and remain proud of its accomplishment.
The record won’t last long, Infinity War will slay it in a couple of months.
No actually it won’t Black Panther will still be the highest selling,…… as well as the sequel and more to come
This goes to shows when giving good budgets and theme outside of stereotypical black movies, black led films can do big things. We just don’t get these opportunities often enough.
Congratulations are in order for Stan Lee, make them coins.
