Hot Shots: Gabrielle Union Gets Personal With ‘Good Housekeeping’ [Photos]

Gabrielle Union has used her platform to support many causes over the years, but none hit closer to home than those empowering women – a feat the actress also aimed to accomplish with her New York Best-Selling memoir, ‘We’re Going to Need More Wine.’

Hailed by critics for its brazen approach to a number of sensitive topics from her life, readers were particularly stunned to see details about Union’s own sexual assault and consequent bouts with PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder).

Recently taking to ‘Good Housekeeping’ magazine (April 2018 issue), the ‘Being Mary Jane’ beauty not only dished on the courage to admit the incident, but also how her life has been since opening up about it.  Look inside to read excerpts from the interview and see the stunning snaps that accompany it:

“Writing my book, We’re Going to Need More Wine, was therapeutic…whether I was talking about sexual assault, failed marriages or finding joy in being my authentic self,” Union tells Good Housekeeping in their April issue.

“Acknowledging you’re in pain is the first step, and then seeking help. The online community is full of people going through the exact same thing you are.”

“I feel a responsibility to be a decent human being to everyone and accountable for my actions,” says Gabrielle. “I want to leave every room I enter brighter than how I found it.”

“If anyone in your life is making you feel bad…they need to be cut off. Give yourself permission to let go,” she adds.
