With actress Erica Ash (‘Survivor’s Remorse’, ‘Real Husbands of Hollywood’) tapped to topline, April 10th brought with it the unveiling of BET’s fast-paced legal drama, ‘In Contempt.’ Featuring a star-studded cast filled out by the likes of Richard Lawson, Christian Keyes, and more, the series sees Ash portray “Gwen Sullivan” (a talented, tough, and opinionated public defender whose passion for her work makes her hated among her colleagues in an unforgiving legal system).
Its premiere this week was greeted by a wealth of promising reviews from viewers who took to social media to express their approval and anticipation for what was to come. Unfortunately, that fanfare was not reflected by the week’s end when official ratings were revealed. Not even placing in the top 50 most watched shows of the night, ‘In Contempt’ managed to rake in….
Viewership: 540,000
With the viewership figures above the show ranked #57 among cable broadcasts on April 10, 2018.
Here’s hoping with its talented cast, gripping storyline, and hard-hitting subject matter the remainder of ‘In Contempt’s season 1 (which consists of nine more episodes) sees the rise in ratings it deserves. [source]
Anytime a black show is not on mrworldpremier then that show is going to flop. Period.
I like that BET is attempting original scripted programs, but none of them seem to have the right brains behind them. The one with Larenz Tate ended before it really even started, The Quad started off strong and then turned into a mess in season two, and now we have In Comtempt which seems like a bunch of overacting and some non-acting going on. The producers and casting directors need to get it together if BET is going to build up an original TV platform.
Stick a fork in BET.
Please watch this show! My husband and I did not watch it when it first premiered however one night I decided to watch one of the on demand episodes and we are hooked. This show is raw and explosive. I was hesitant because of the show airing on BET but finally Bet produced a reasonable and awesome series worth watching. I pray this show gets renewed! Please watch you want regret it!!
