Childish Gambino is reportedly in talks to play a super villain in the next chapter of Ryan Coogler‘s ‘Black Panther.’
Ryan Coogler is currently mapping out Black Panther’s sequel and has written in a number of new characters that movie-goers will be introduced to when it premieres. ‘One of those characters, if he gets his wish, will be played by Childish Gambino. Nothing is set in stone but “informal talks” [are happening] between Ryan, Gambino and reps from Marvel and Disney to see if they can make it happen.
They’re still yet to decide if Michael B Jordan will return in some capacity but if he doesn’t it’s likely Gambino may play some kind of villain.
Gambino, whose real name is Donald Glover, supported the first ‘Panther’ picture by contributing to its script alongside his brother Stephen after creator Ryan Coogler invited them to do so.
We had a couple of hours to look over it, punch up some jokes and stuff like that. It was already there anyway — they had already done a great job — so it was really cool just to get our fingerprints on there a little bit too.
Now it seems Coogler is ready to see Gambino work his magic on camera.
A release date for the hotly-anticipated sequel is yet to be set.
Fun Fact: Ludwig Goransson, one of the brains behind the ‘Black’ soundtrack, also produced original material on Gambino’s ‘Camp’ and ‘Awaken My Love.’
