Tyler Perry Confirms ‘Madea’ Franchise To End in 2019

Published: Tuesday 30th Oct 2018 by Rashad

It’s not Halloween yet but fans of Tyler Perry‘s beloved ‘Madea’ franchise received quite the fright this week when the media maven took to Bevy Smith‘s SiriusXM show, ‘Bevelations,’ recently to discuss his most popular character’s ultimate fate.

Gracing film and stage for nearly 20 years, the franchise – via films like ‘Madea’s Family Reunion,’ ‘Madea Goes to Jail,’ ‘Madea’s Big Happy Family,’ and more collectively – has grossed Perry over $500 million.  Alas, not even that could save Mabel Madea Simmon.

More inside:

The filmmaker will do a farewell stage tour and 2019’s “Tyler Perry’s a Madea Family Funeral” to say goodbye to his iconic character.

“I’m happy to kill that old bitch, I’m tired, man,” Perry said on Bevy Smith’s SiriusXM show “Bevelations” on Monday. “I just don’t want to be her age, playing her.”

He also said on the program that his team finished shooting the film two years ago, but wanted to stagger its release following 2016 and 2017’s Madea Halloween films.  [source]

The posters above me sound stupid.
Tyler has had several successful movies that didn’t include Madea. His bag is SECURE. He’ll be fine.
