Ratings: OWN’s ‘Chad Loves Michelle’ Opens To Lukewarm Ratings

Published: Tuesday 6th Nov 2018 by Rashad

The road to “I do” is seeing Destiny’s Child superstar Michelle Williams and fiance/pastor Chad Johnson take a stroll down the reality show circuit via OWN’s ‘Chad Loves Michelle.’

Premiering November 3rd at 9pm EST, the series not only takes a behind-the-scenes look as the soon-to-be newlyweds prepare for marriage but also gives fans a peek into their respective personal troubles (including Michelle’s publicized stint at a mental health facility).

Was all of that and more enough to lure in viewers?  The show’s official debut ratings were revealed today and…

Viewership:  337,000

Among Saturday’s (November 3) top 100 rated programs ‘Chad Loves Michelle’ ranked #88 (source).

Off to a bit of a slow start, the Johnsons are hitting the promo pavement in the show’s support to increase those figures.  And, with stops on a number of high profile platforms (including ‘Good Morning America,’ ‘The Breakfast Club,’ and more) and in a number of high profile publications, we’re sure they’ll be on the right track soon enough.

This show is about god fearing and faithfully COMMITED relationships- beyonce cannot relate to that

    • SMH November 7, 2018

lmao calling her won’t help, the OTR tour ratings were even lower than that lmao?

  2. The time slot sucks November 6, 2018

I mean the show is on Saturdays at 9PM. I think the ratings are good because I am usually out twerking right at that time

    it’s on saturday night…

Those are decent numbers. No major tv shows air new episodes on Saturdays anyway takeaway SNL. I think Feauxprah set them up for failure by giving them a Saturday night slot because that’s not a big tv day. This type of program is better fit for Sunday or Monday but they’d be competing with big shows on bigger networks that already have strong followings. They should have been given a Sunday slot during an hour that other programs aren’t on like the Walking Dead or RHOAtlanta. Or maybe Wednesday. It’s tough being football season and all but OWN really ISN’T the top network out there anyway so I’m impressed wit 337K. Hopefully they’re consistent and rise and then maybe they’ll slide them over to a weekday. Anyway, get it ‘CHELLE!!

My respect for her time in “Destiny’ s Child” will never fade, but as a solo artist she lacks so many star qualities. I hate that she struggled with an eating disorder because I feel as if she was trying to compensate for her lack of talent. But if we’re spilling real tea… she should have left her religious views out of the spotlight if she ever wanted any sort of chance of relevancy in the industry. No tea, no shade, just not her… Lemonade.

As a gospel singer Michelle has had number 1 selling albums, number 1 songs, largest selling gospel debuts, top 10 hits and has been able to release multiple successful solo gospel albums. The market she has targeted (gospel) for her solo career has seen her succeed successfully so you’re obviously not looking to her for what she is. She’s not a beyonce, of course not. She’s not going to give you a record full of songs telling you her ugly a*** husband has cheated on her over 100 times and she’s staying with him(like a dummy). She’s a church girl, a conservative girl and in the realm of church/gospel music she has done what she’s needed to do and been successful as a solo artist which is why she’s stil around in the public eye and not just when beyonce brings dc3 back together #AllTea #AllShade #NoSourLemonade ?

No one wants to watch those bores…

She’s not doing it for the money nor publicity. It’s a couple’s therapy to help other married folks who don’t go to marriage counseling. So all you Love and Hip Hop th0ts can hush

    • Jj November 7, 2018

They said on the breakfast club that was not the original concept. It had be changed very quickly due to michelle breaking up with chad over six times

    • Jj November 7, 2018

If she weren’t doing it for publicity why does her publicist has her booked for a gazillion interviews. She may be set financially but she was a paid employee of Destiny’s child not a real member.

      • Jasmine Da Bi Asian iSlay TROLLmine Rasputia (hermaphrodite) on the daily November 7, 2018

@JJ she made destinys child better. I always loved DC and was bitter when they kicked out the first 2 members but I was easily persuaded once the “Survivor” album came out and I realized 1.) it was their best cd up to that point and 2.) like beyonce stated multiple times “now everyone can sing lead because everyone can sing and our harmonies are tighter than they’ve ever been” which was all facts. She may have been late to the party but she was an UPGRADE for sure

      • Maxx November 7, 2018

Lies…and her publicist has her doing the interviews so they can promote the show. That’s called being a professional & wanting any project she is included in to be successful. They definitely do not need the money honey.

I’m just happy Michelle broke the cycle and is the first member of destinys child to actually have a spouse who’s somewhat attractive.

  10. DC3 FOREVER November 7, 2018

These are good numbers for a Saturday night show! And the first episode was great! And I’m not saying that because I Stan for her but it was great and who knew it was an hour long show! GO MICHELLE!!

  11. Jj November 7, 2018

Do you remember the replacement members for The Supremes and Envogue? No one remembers the replacement for Destiny’s Child outside of urban fanatics. Michelle is a sweetheart and is great for church. Sadly, Secular Show business is not her element.

    • Jasmine Da Bi Asian iSlay TROLLmine Rasputia (hermaphrodite) on the daily November 7, 2018

Everyone remembers Michelle. She was there singing lead during Destinys child’s biggest albums, biggest tours, biggest videos and at their peaks. The replacements for En Vogue were 20 years after their peaks when and The Supremes don’t sing lead- none from either group were successful outside of the group. Make what you say make sense becausbeur just talking without logic.

    • stan November 7, 2018

most people remember destiny’s child as a trio.

don’t get me wrong, the original lineup was extremely strong, but the group became really big after the lineup change.

      • Jasmine Da Bi Asian iSlay TROLLmine Rasputia (hermaphrodite) on the daily November 7, 2018

@stan i’ll Admit I was NOT here for a lineup change when “say my name “ came out. I was on the fück beyonce train. That all changed as soon as “independent women pt1” and the album “survivor” came out and I shut ALL THE WAY UP

  12. Maxx November 7, 2018

I tuned in & I enjoyed the show. It’s great for couples as it talks relationships & they have some of the same issues I have experienced so I am tuning in! Plus I support the brown people..

    Just saw about five minutes of the show and changed the channel. A couple of observations that I’ve made in that short time however;
It should be no surprise to anyone that the ratings are low. I don’t think there are enough people who really know who Michelle is and the ones that do don’t care enough about what’s going on with her to watch this show. I mean she’s being pretty presumptuous assuming that she could carry a show I think. Secondly the fact that she is consistently bringing up the race issue in terms of her relationship is a red flag. It’s a complete turn-off and I am a black woman and I am a black woman who’s been in several interracial relationships as well as with men of my own race. But for her to categorize everything that she does is because she’s black and says “well don’t black people do this”? and “don’t we all do that that” is a bunch of b*******! She has to recognize that there are some things that are just individual things and not be so quick to bring up race as the reason for her husband not understanding something about her or whatever. It happens in all relationships that are the same race and it’s just an individual thing. She is old enough to know that but apparently the environment that she’s grown up and has led her to believe that every black person acts the same way, lives the same way speaks the same way, feel the same way and all that b*******! So I am just turned off by her and by the show but had a very strong need to voice my opinion because it was very very disturbing to me, the whole race thing was just a bunch of b*******!

” We are all more alike than we are unalike”…

    • Meka November 15, 2018

You are on point about the race issue.

  14. Erick Reihs November 14, 2018

I don’t know why I get so mad when I see the episode trailers lol every time I see it I think to myself……Who really cares enough to watch this and who thought it was a good idea to make a show about these 2. I don’t get it.

  15. Kimberly November 18, 2018

Chad’s sister is soo selfish and immature! He has the right to marry and be happy. She can have her men and babies nut he can’t? If she was mature she could help her children rejoice for him.

  16. Keisha Jackson November 18, 2018

This show is awful. I’m surprised anyone watched it at all.

    • Eriks November 25, 2018

This show is boring and terrible. Please make it go away. It is depressing.

  17. H November 23, 2018

I am not sure why this is a show? I guess you can make a reality show about anyting, even if people don’t care…..

  18. Danielle November 26, 2018

I love this show, and how they put God first in everything they do. I pray the ratings go up. We need more positive reality shows on TV.

  19. Anita Kay January 16, 2019

First of all, when I saw the first promo. I knew the show wouldn’t last … same ole same ole. I don’t know why Michelle would do a show like that. Seeing her screaming, “Beyonce, he put a ring on it!” , she looked absolutely ridiculous, embarrassing and desperate … sad. Other promos made her look clingy. Instead of screaming about a ring, Michelle needs to have Beyonce teach her how to woman up.
