Jussie Smollett made headlines the world over when it was revealed that he was the victim of a brutal attack that was rooted in both racism and homophobia.
That Grape Juice were first to break the news of the horrendous incident, which came days after the openly gay ‘Empire’ star received hate mail which almost foretold the situation.
Now, Smollett (35) is speaking up and out about the harrowing experience. His words below…
In a statement issued to Essence, the actor said:
“Let me start by saying that I’m OK. My body is strong but my soul is stronger. More importantly I want to say thank you. The outpouring of love and support from my village has meant more than I will ever be able to truly put into words.
I am working with authorities and have been 100% factual and consistent on every level. Despite my frustrations and deep concern with certain inaccuracies and misrepresentations that have been spread, I still believe that justice will be served.
As my family stated, these types of cowardly attacks are happening to my sisters, brothers and non-gender conforming siblings daily. I am not and should not be looked upon as an isolated incident. We will talk soon and I will address all details of this horrific incident, but I need a moment to process. Most importantly, during times of trauma, grief and pain, there is still a responsibility to lead with love. It’s all I know. And that can’t be kicked out of me.”
Like most, we’re still shocked by the entire situation. But ultimately are glad to hear Jussie is in better condition.
His story keeps changing and all the claims have been proven false. Confess it all, Jussie and move on. Talk about why TGJ kept changing the title and text of the “breaking story.” The jig is up. Do better.

All he has to do is address whether or not the attack was racist and/or homophobic. Otherwise, keep quiet. Lying about a hate crime affects all Black LGBT people who may become a REAL hate crime victim and be called a liar because this was a lie. All his Black gay enablers are at fault too.
