There’s been an important development in the Jussie Smollett assault case.
Earlier today the reputable TMZ reported that Smollett’s role on the hit show ‘Empire’ had been reduced as the police investigate the violent crime he is now recovering from.
The website’s report gave many reason to believe the show’s producers had cut his camera time in response to talk that he orchestrated the attack and was behind a racist letter sent to him shortly before it took place.
Now, the truth has emerged thanks to well-placed sources at the show.
Jussie’s role on Empire was reduced at the request of his family who believed going back to work shortly after the incident was a mistake, not because producers believe he is lying about it. ‘He was keen to shoot scenes and commit to the production schedule. When coupled with the fact that the men he says attacked him still pose as a security risk, his family begged him to take time off.’
The source added…
The production team at the show are behind him all the way but could see he needed some breathing space so agreed to give him as much time off as he would like. ‘The decision was his.’
Smollett is now said to be using this time to spend time with loved ones and recover from the attack.
TMZ adds…
Less work for Jussie means more work for writers, who are busy making edits. In the past 24 hours, we’re told the script has undergone multiple revisions.
