Last month, Jussie Smollett hit the headlines anew when he the hoax attack case against him collapsed and rendered him a free man.
Still, it hasn’t quelled the flames of debate surrounding the actor’s claim of being targeted in the racist and homophobic beatdown.
The entire episode has cast his future on FOX’s ‘Empire’ into doubt.
Today, the show’s creator Lee Daniels stopped by The Breakfast Club (with rising writer Jordan E. Cooper) and was naturally quizzed on the Smollett and more.

In an interesting segment of the sit-down, Daniels says he’s standing by Smollett (who he likened to a son). Uniquely, though, when asked squarely about whether he believes his “son,” he offered a somewhat odd response:

Look, the charges were dropped, he didn’t do it, the end. The court of public opinion needs to just take the L, wipe the egg off your faces and MOVE THE F*CK ON. Put your energy towards all the weekly shootings & unsolved murders going on right now in Chicago and let this mess go already.
@SMH. You’re missing all the important details: through “alternative prosecution,” he was sentenced to community service and he agreed to forfeit the return of his $10,000 bond. That’s a punishment. There is no punishment without wrongdoing.
The brothers who are accused of coordinating the attack with Jussie just filed a lawsuit against Smollett’s attorneys for defamation saying that they know Jussie orchestrated the whole thing. This thing is far from over and I believe Lee believes Jussie did it.
I for one am tired of hearing about this weird ass case. Both Lee Daniels & Jussie rub me the wrong way. There’s something very elitist and disconnected about them. I’m not here for it.
Jussie’s career is over…that is the justice served. MOVE ON!!!

In my opinion if you condone Jesse smollet’s actions then you are no better than he and I think for the betterment of the show you need to keep him off , you have a fantastic show, but if you can’t separate yourself from the show.
