The series was built following the success of Daniels’ show ‘Empire’ and starred Queen Latifah, Brandy, Ryan Destiny and Luke James.
Unfortunately, the show- like ‘Empire’– was booted from Fox’s books and cancelled much to the dismay of the fans who tuned in religiously to catch its stars in melodramatic action.
Efforts were made to sell the series to another platform but today, after weeks of keeping hope alive, said fans discovered that it was rejected by all of the companies it hoped would save it from complete cancellation.
BET, OWN, and more recently/surprisingly, Amazon, had been approached for interest in a fourth season of the Empire spinoff.

Mo’Nique, the Oscar winning actress Daniels is said to have blacklisted, urged critics to think twice about mocking his “misfortune” as the show’s demise spells trouble for its hard working cast and crew…all of whom must now find a new source of income.

The series is poorly written, much like Empire & any other television project that Lee Daniels will put his hands into. I applaud him for giving a mainstream platform to Amiyah, Jussie & other notable LGBT talents. I simply feel that Lee is way too caught up in the HYPE of Hollywood & drowned both series’ in way too many celeb cameos & plot lines that had NOTHING to do with the premise of the original format. Lee Daniels is very culturally incompetent & socially awkward. He inputs way too much of that into the work. I don’t blame OWN, BET or Amazon for turning their noses up at the project. The programs are way overcast & that makes production too d*mn expensive. Maybe if he would learn to keep with the core intention of his ideas, he wouldn’t experience such Plummits in viewership. He’s a horrible creator.

Wow, I ain’t never seen Karma be so direct and on time like this in my life. Both Steve and Lee was saving face for the white folks but publicly ridiculing Mo and now look at them.

I don’t think this is karma with Steve. He got too big. Once he signed with ICM and no longer wanted to just be a puppet for the white man they aced him. His new contract gave him creative control and a huge increase in income. These white execs fired him because he got too much power and money coming in with his new contract. They want a puppet not a boss!
I think karma does have a hand in this as well. The timing of all this and the Monique interview is too much of a coincidence.
Steve didn’t do anything wrong to Monique. She went on his show seeking his opinion and GOT what SHE SOUGHT! If this was karma then all of Steve’s checks would be ending but that is not true. He still hosts Family Feud, a gig he’s had since 2010, as well Celebrity Family Feud. Harvey also hosts the Miss Universe pageant. Plus, he has his own syndicated morning radio show, The Steve Harvey Morning Show and has hosted Fox’s New Year’s Eve special from Times Square.
I am not sure if it is karma for Lee either. In the words of DC, THE WRITING IS ON THE WALL for both Steve and Lee. Lee needed to give up destroying Empire and Star with his GAY SOAP OPERA agenda. Lee destroyed those shows by insisting on writing / directing each episode instead of just sitting back collecting show creator checks. Steve sabotaged his relationship with NBC by signing with ICM and squeezing NBC out from creative control over his show. Again, the writing was on the wall and these men KNEW their check cancellations were coming before the public did.

I dont think this is karma but more like something that was bond to happen. Empire hasnt been good since S1. That was 2015, fast forward to 2019 and were still wondering why they’re still showing this bullsh!t. Star was never good in the first place, they had just enough views to stay on television but I mean so does the Braxtons, doesn’t mean it’s good. And Steve supposedly signed a new contract so I’m sure the people behind his show did cancel him, he left them. He’ll find his way, people of all races love Steve, the only black people really upset with him are the one on Twitter who think that tweeting #Blacklivesmatter is equivalent to a Civil Rights march…
I don’t think it is fair to compare a scripted show to a reality show. Reality shows cost far less to make

If u want to win an Emmy or resurrect your dead acting career, star in a Ryan Murphy production. Jessica lange, kathy bates, Angela Bassett, Cuba gooding jr , all have careers today thanks to Ryan Murphy.
Scream Queens had a short life and shouldn’t be counted as a success. The first season was excellent, and then it was ruined with bad writing and directing in season 2. ACS has not been able to move forward and they keep cancelling plans for a new season. Just saying Murphy isn’t perfect either.

STAR didnt deserve this fate, but Empire was too close to syndication when its been said that Fox actually wanted to ax BOTH shows. Perhaps Fox or some other outlet will give fans a movie to tie up the ends. I liked the show AND the music…

The show was great in the beginning, then it went left field.the girl star was acting, to ghetto.to much negative life style. I got tired of watching the violence. It started out a family show .then I said what the fluff????
The show sucked anyway. I’m shocked it lasted more than one season.
It’s sad that so many of these comments are negative and disparaging of our own people. Look at the bigger picture. There is a long list of black themed shows being canceled and that’s not a good thing. There are many other shows with poor acting, poor writing, and low ratings that still remain on the air because they focus on a different demographic with a different narrative. The black narrative is not allowed to eb and flow or coast along like other shows. As soon as they stop being profitable they are axed. Lee Daniels is responsible because he allowed the ratings to continually slide without any concerted effort to improve. Lee Daniels will not be given the latitude of Ryan Murphy by the networks. He is a black man, running a black themed show, that speaks to a mostly black demographic unlike Ryan Murphy. Another mistake with Lee is that both his shows budgets were too high due to the long list of guest star appearances rather than just focusing on the central characters. Both of Lee’s shows were like revolving doors for stars.

I believe the both shows Empire and Star were cancelled due to the problems jussie Smollett had with the law. I don’t believe for one minute either show had declining ratings.
Two prime shows both with prodomi ately black casts.
It was cruel for fox network to axe them.
It’s also sad that no other network will pick them up.
I think CBS should pick them up especially since this is the last season for Hawaii 5-0, and the big bang theory. I am sure they would be received well.

What about Hulu or Netflix? They take on some badly scripted shows while “Star” already has a fan based audience and would gain plenty of views. If they could renew orange is the new black for another season especially after the last season sucked bad such a disappointment!!!! I could see them taking on the show. I believe that the only way to get star renewed is by pitching a good idea on what’s instored for the following season. Just like in marketing even fashion pitch an idea that is worth investing into#NEVERGIVEUPSAVESTAR
