‘The Lion King’ Set To Roar With Projected US Opening Of Over $150 Million

Published: Thursday 27th Jun 2019 by Sam

‘The Lion King’ looks set to take its throne at the US box office.

Unleashed globally on July 19th, Disney‘s live-action take on the classic tale is poised to pounce with record-breaking numbers.

Full story below…

Based on early tracking, the Jon Favreau production – which stars Donald Glover and Beyonce – is forecast to premiere with a US gross north of $150 million.

While the preliminary numbers can and often do fluctuate, many anticipate even higher sums for ‘The Lion King.’ Especially given its slay out of the gate with pre-sale tickets this week. Then there’s Disney’s colossal marketing campaign which is beginning to power into full-speed.

Should the figure climb even a hair higher, it’ll see the film become the highest grossing July debut (besting the $169 million opening of ‘Harry Potter And The Deathly Willows Part 2’).

We’re all sorts of amped for ‘The Lion King.’ Are you?

Your thoughts?

And it has absolutely nothing to do with beyonce, so let’s not even go down that delusional roadfolks.

    • Danny Bey June 27, 2019

NO ONE EVEN MENTIONED HER and yet you’re the FIRST COMMENT to mention her. See how you ugly negative hoez wake up with this woman on your mind!? It’s unhealthy as all hell. LMFAOOOOOOOOOOO

      • SMH June 27, 2019

LOL obviously my facts got you to respond as predicted, so sit your silly ass down.

      • Danny Bey June 27, 2019

What facts did you spew? Beyoncé got your pressed ass to mention her before anyone else. *Alexa play TLC Silly Ho*

      • Brent Christopher June 27, 2019

SHE IS MENTIONED RIGHT IN THE ARTICLE, you idiot. This website attempts to attribute the early success of ticket sales to her likeness & involvement with the project.

    • Danny Bey June 28, 2019

She’s mentioned but not in the obvious vein that the comment is saying, which was implied dummy. Play with your pu**y not me basic b*tch

I’m seeing it because it’s my favourite Disney movie and Beyonce is the added bonus.. although I’d love to see Disney do some original animation like their golden years. Live action remakes are a hit or miss.

IF I CAN BE 100% HONEST, I AM NOT EXCITED ABOUT THE RELEASE OF THIS FILM. Most of it is probably rooted in all of the overhype. I’m sick to death of hearing Beyonce & Donald Glover associated with this Disney Classic.

The CONSTANT mentions, made on this site specifically, would lead one to believe that they somehow contribute to the already BUILT IN SUCCESS of this established creation.

Regardless of how high the opening weekend number soars or the longevity of its box office appeal, this generation would have turned out to support in mass numbers, ANYWAY.

Everyone across the globe is familiar with the original animated story — whether through ice capades, Broadway, family vacations, plush toys, happy meal add-ons or other pop culture existences.

I want the project to be a success, but I do NOT want any of its achievements to be attributed to two individuals who honestly could have been replaced by anyone else in the industry.

Then maybe you should spend less time on this site and more time working or something. Just a thought.

        Drag herrrrrr hahah

      • Pedonika June 27, 2019

How about taking your own advice? Your mom just called and needs you to shave her back

      • Danny Bey June 27, 2019

        Mom jokes. I’d laugh but… I’m not 12 ?

      • Pedonika June 27, 2019

Or maybe it’s because truth hurts

      • Danny Bey June 27, 2019

“MaYbE iTs cUz tRuTh HuRtS” girl shut up and go mop somebody’s floor ????

  5. Clarkson June 27, 2019

That is so low compared to black panther and even Captain marvel (a superhero nobody knew)

Beyonce isnt a huge draw after all. Sad

    • Danny Bey June 27, 2019

But didnt yall say people would see this film regardless if Beyonce was in it or not? So that means she’s not the complete draw for these numbers. If it flops its “Beyonce couldnt make it successful”. If it slays its “Beyonce has nothing to do with it”.. LMFAO Yall need to make up your mind.

    • Gworl Bye June 27, 2019

beyonce was NEVER a huge box office draw to begin with.

      • Danny Bey June 27, 2019

$600mil in movie grosses and the highest paid black actress. Y’all don’t research before you type do you

    • Ty ty June 27, 2019

Marvel films are the biggest thing in the last 10 years even Star Wars can’t compete so what’s your point? Don’t act like Disney live action films haven’t been a hit or miss. Even Aladdin was in danger of flopping smh!! Y’all so thirsty to hate it’s embarrassing.

Personally I’m very glad that thanks to Beyonce illiterate lions will finally have a spokesperson with Nala

Celebrity names don’t fill theater seats anymore, hence why Chris Hemsworth’s, who plays Thor in the Avengers, MIB International bombed. It’s about the project name now. People are only going to see Lion King because of nostalgia, nothing more, nothing less. Just like it wasn’t Will Smith that gave Aladdin its big opening, it was nostalgia. Same thing with Star Wars, Game of Thrones, Marvel etc its the collective brand people want to see not the actors and or directors.

  9. Bravo!!! June 27, 2019

The premier night won’t just be about Beyonce and the movie… this is a big night for Beyonce to be in a classic movie and to be apart of a Disney film. She concreted in history books Musically and film. So, I’m sure we’re going to get the twins walking on the red carpet.
