For five seasons fans of STARZ flagship series, ‘Power,’ have been greeted by the unmistakably smooth croon of R&B veteran Joe as he sang the show’s theme song. As the wait for its season 6 return came to a close today, however, viewers were stunned to hear his velvet tenor replaced by the goat-like battle cry unique stylings of fellow R&B singer Trey Songz.
Giving the new ‘Big Rich Town’ a big thumbs down, the show’s faithful followers took to Twitter in droves to express their disappointment with the switch up.

Trey keeps taking Ls. He should have said NO to recording the song. I like Trey as an artist but he has not been making hit music lately. Time for him to spend some quality time in the studio making some new hits.
I think it’s safe to say that Trey’s hitmaking days are over. He’s reached his mid 30’s and has been around for 15 years. He had a good run but he’s quickly approaching urban AC territory.

Its unnecessary owing to the fact that it’s the last season. This new version didn’t upgrade it rather it downgraded it. If we weren’t informed it was Trey am sure 99.9% of people wouldn’t have known.

Hate the new version! They need to bring back Joe’s more soulful voice. If not, I will be sure to always fast forward through the intro to avoid being irritated by the downgrade that obviously results from poor taste by whoever decided to make this switch.
