Exclusive: That Grape Juice Hosts UK Pre-Release Screening Of ‘Harriet’ [Starring Cynthia Erivo & Janelle Monae]

Published: Thursday 21st Nov 2019 by Sam

This Friday brings with it the UK release of ‘Harriet’ starring Grammy, Tony, and Emmy winner Cynthia Erivo.

Ahead of its arrival, this week That Grape Juice gave a select few the chance to see the hotly anticipated biopic early at our exclusive pre-release screening.

Hosted in partnership with Universal Pictures, the Central London event saw our guests become some of the first in the country to see Erivo shine as activist Harriet Tubman in the production, which also stars Janelle Monae and Leslie Odom Jr.

Jacqueline Shepherd oversaw the evening as host; while invitees were treated to drinks and nibbles courtesy of Crumb Coat UK. They also took home goodie bags featuring must-haves from Palmers UK, OffBlak, Red Red Stews, Indie Bay, Ombar Chocolate, Bells & Whistles, OluOlu, Virtue Drinks, and Well & Truly.

Seriously ashamed at this foolery. Y’all present yourself as “urban, black blog” but support the false storytelling and Hollywood cash grab that is “HARRIET” AND host a damn screening? Y’all are so pathetic, I get second hand embarrassed. AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT THESE DAMN ADDS AND THESE DAMN VIDEOS THAT KEEP POPING US, WE DONT GIVE A S*** ABOUT WHO YOUR INTERVIEWING!

Their not even African Americans. Its honestly insulting at this point. They already cast a British Nigerian who has made awful comments about African Americans. They have no problem high jacking someone else’s culture. No one could do this to them. Cynthia is already playing Aretha Franklin and in Color Purple. All African American stories. Make it make sense. This is weird and creepy. Hollywood hold this L. I’ll support Viola Davis version. At least hire a respectful British Nigerian actress next time. This has turnt people off.
