Valentine’s Day is around the corner and will be bringing with it ‘The Photograph’ – starring Issa Rae and LaKeith Stanfield.
The movie unpacks a multi-layered love story, one which centers on forgiveness and finding the courage to seek the truth, regardless of where it leads.
It takes its title from a mysterious photograph Mae Morton (played by Rae) finds in her deceased mother’s belongings. That discovery uniquely aligns her path with rising journalist Michael Block (Stanfield) and ignites quite the narrative.
Before its February 14th release, check out the extended trailer for the film (which Rae is co-producing with Will Packer) after the jump…
We will be watching. Will you?
This movie looks so beautiful. Honestly when I saw the trailer in the movie theater I teared up a bit. It is reminiscent of the black love movies we got in the 90s but gives such a fresh spin on it. I can’t wait for this. Issa looks gorge as well. And LaKeith can do no wrong!
I’ve got the biggest respect for Issa, her narrative of black people is so refreshing, she shows black people in such a positive light, instead of using negative stereotypes about us to make a dollar. I’m so excited to watch this film, looks like a beautiful love story.
