Tyler Perry On Oscar Snubs: “Beyonce & Jennifer Lopez Should Have Been Nominated”

Published: Tuesday 14th Jan 2020 by Sam

Tyler Perry has long marched to the beat of his own drum – even without the ringing endorsement of Hollywood critics.

But with the world weighing in on yesterday’s Oscar nomination announcement, so too is Tyler.

Speaking at the premiere of his new Netflix movie ‘A Fall From Grace,’ the star candidly expressed that Beyonce and Jennifer Lopez were snubbed after being shut-out from the shortlist.

His words below…

Though stating that “it is what it is” and playing down the necessity of any fuss, he stressed that the singers should have received look-ins – as well as Awkwafina.

Do you agree?

Just like a raging homosexual to always push this agenda for untalented, undeserving, female pop stars. There is NOTHING Oscar worthy or extraordinary about that god awful, pedestrian “SPIRIT” song that Beyonce tried to push down everyone’s throat. Her entire LION KING era was baseless, soulless & pedestrian. She latches on to trends & attempts to now market herself as this pro-black, woke sista. No one outside of kweens believes in what she’s pushing.

And as for Jennifer, it took absolutely no range for her to play an urban, struggling stripper. Oscars are awarded to actors & actresses who play against type & morph into a character totally opposite their normal or publicly accepted character. JLo has been poppin her p|_|ss on camera for YEARS.

She has been shoving that Bronx girl tale down the media’s throat for well over a decade. NO ONE CARES!

I’m not pleased to see but one black face in the nominee lineup, but I’m glad Beyonce nor JLo are a part of the ethnic nods. Neither is deserving & let this be a lesson to both narcissists.

      Not a single lie told.

    • A Top Music critic January 14, 2020

Thank you! Beyawnce didn’t deserve it ! Period!!!

“Oscars are awarded to actors & actresses who play against type & morph into a character totally opposite their normal or publicly accepted character.” Hmmm that’s a lie. Plenty of mediocre performances ie Gwyneth Paltrow were awarded Oscars before due to popularity politics

People get on my nerves. The moment a black person isn’t nominated they want to scream there is no diversity with the Oscars. J Lo isn’t an actor that should never be taken seriously because she can’t act. Beyonce can not act and the Lion King wasn’t even that good. Let’s be real people those two should have never been considered in the first place. Us was a good movie but wasn’t oscar worthy either.

    • Moti25 January 14, 2020

Did you just say Jlo can’t act. You must be a young buck. ??‍♂️

  4. BYISI January 14, 2020

Hating this early with wrong long paragraphs. This man built an entire empire and knows talent. I’ll take his word over two hateful homosexuals who happen to hate Beyonce and Jennifer Lopez.

    • SMH January 14, 2020

Girl shut up. Beyonce & Jlo are not Oscar worthy. And just because Tyler writes his own scripts does not make him an expert on talent. He’s just another messy black queen thats seething because their god beyonce got snubbed yet again.

And your mom should’ve taken her doctors word and should’ve aborted you

Did I miss something? Why should Bryonce have been nominated? Though she only did voice over for lion king so where is all these award suggestions coming from?

  6. RealOne January 14, 2020

J.Lo’s performance was not Oscar worthy. I think the excitement came from the fact its yhe better movie than she has done in a decade. The movie was still cheesy and her performance was typical J.Lo. Eddie Murphy and Awkawfina were snubbed though

    Stfu Tyler

  8. XYZ January 14, 2020

Spirit was and is a lazy song. It had no impact and was not innovative at all. I’m sorry, nur there is nothing Oscar worthy about it. And it is def not Oscar worthy just because it is Beyonce. Musically, she puts out supbar Songs for a while now and I cant how so much are up her ass and hype those lackluster songs up.

  9. i hate black n whuyee bitchh and some of yall chinese bithesss too January 14, 2020

    • PinotNoir January 14, 2020

      You nailed it.

Bey doesn’t move you when she emotes. Anger-provoked, guttural growls don’t a tear-jerker make.

      • i hate blaccck n whuyee bitchh some yall chinesse bicthess to January 14, 2020

      • SMH January 14, 2020

  10. PinotNoir January 14, 2020

*nodding while applauding like Jamie Fox after Xtina’s James Brown tribute*

  11. PinotNoir January 14, 2020

One more word and they’ll Steve-Harvey him. Careful, Tyler.

  12. Anne January 14, 2020

I didn’t see the Jennifer Lopez movie but if course I agree that Beyonce should have been nominated along with Eddie. My theory is that they didn’t nominate Beyonce because they know she would have performed the hell out of that song which would make them look even more biased when they give it to Elton John.

    • Shayla Queen January 14, 2020

Elton John is a legend. Sit down ?

      • Anne January 14, 2020

I never said he wasn’t. I’m a big Elton John fan as well. Will be happy for him if he wins as I suspect he will.

    • SMH January 14, 2020

And Spirit is a trash song that’s not Oscar worthy at all. Stay seated.

      • Anne January 14, 2020

        That’s your opinion.

  13. Yolanda January 14, 2020

Shut up, Tyler! I enjoy JLo’s movies and her role in Hustlers was not an Oscar-winning role. The movie looked more like made-for-tv. She definitely deserved an Oscar for her role in El Cantante.

    • SMH January 14, 2020

THIS!!! If we were talking about El Cantante, that would be different. Hustlers was not an Oscar worthy performance, period.

  14. SMH January 14, 2020

Tyler, I ride with you, but please STFU on this one lol.

  15. Theman January 14, 2020

It’s okay that her song wasn’t nominated. Why don’t people go this hard for other black artists? They want her to get nominations only because she is Beyoncé. It’s good that everybody doesn’t kiss her a**.

  16. #TheTruth January 14, 2020

As far as I’m concerned, I really like Spirit.
It just falls flat vocally, after the key change I needed « a moment » like Randy Jackson says. Something risky, a long note or something.
Otherwise I love everything about the song and I could care less about its sales or awards noms/wins.
