Idris Elba Claps Back At Claims He Suggested An Annual Lockdown Week To Remember Coronavirus

Published: Sunday 26th Apr 2020 by Sam

Idris Elba made headlines this week when a comment he shared about coronavirus was interpreted as suggesting that the world observe an annual lockdown week in remembrance of the covid-19 chapter in history.

As we reported, the actor was one of the first high-profile names to reveal that he had contracted coronavirus.

In the time since, he’s been vocal about the preventative measures folk should take to avoid catching and/or spreading the virus. He’s also been quick to quash conspiracy theories about the pandemic.

Now, he’s seizing the moment to clap back at what he deems gross inaccuracies about his stance.

See what he had to say below…

“I didn’t suggest an actual annual lock down. I suggested a way of remembrance annually. Lazy journalism and click bate thirst will get your words twisted real quick. The actual POINT was that agriculture and the rural poor will suffer long after this time. Focus don’t hocus.”
Well, we guess that settles that. What are…

Your thoughts?

He sounds like Trump putting his foot in his mouth and then attacking the media, labeling the Associated Press as “lazy journalism” and “click bait.” They made no mistake about his words (“I think that the world should dedicate a week of quarantine every year”) to which he gave context when he talked about animals going into hibernation and the need for us to give the world a break.

Idris just had his Netflix series canceled and I can’t help but think it’s related to him talking stupid. Conservatives in the industry are working to put his career on permanent lockdown. He did it to himself.

So glad this pandemic is exposing this tone deaf celebrities for what they truly are: narcissistic piece of dead air!

So easy for you to declare a week of lockdown remembrance when you have millions of dollars in Savings and Mansions as big as Tesco to quarantine in.

After Rona there should be a new rule for celebrities: Do your job and stop talking. We don’t care for your opinions.
