Smith is to play an enslaved African man named Peter who launches a dangerous bid for freedom to escape the horror that is African chattel slavery and the villains who are determined to destroy his people.
Production begins in the first quarter of 2021 and will be led by Smith’s production company Westbrook Studios and directed by Antoine Fuqua.
As the Coronavirus is still at large the release will be introduced to potential buyers virtually at this year’s Cannes market.

More enslaved movies. I swear thats all we can make. S*** make a comedy hell we need a laugh or two. We always making movies about enslavement and yes massa this and that.
I’m with you. We have a lot of slavery movies to reference to where we won’t forget what happened so let’s start making other type of movies that shows us in a different light. I’m tired of these oppressing and depressing films. I get it…we were once slaves!
There’s plenty of comedies, biopic, dramas, sci-fi, thrillers and now we even have horror movies but Y’ALL DONT SUPPORT THE S*** Y’ALL ASK FOR. All you do when black Hollywood does venture out and try something different is tear the shot apart, same with music and fashion.
