Fans of ‘Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’ know Janet Hubert – the actress who plays the original ‘Aunt Vivian’ – has long condemned the show and its producers for her alleged mistreatment during her tenure on the groundbreaking series.
Noticeably absent from the cast’s 2017 reunion (click here to watch), her longtime bad-mouthing of the sitcom and its main star, Will Smith, led people to believe she would not participate in its forthcoming 30th anniversary reunion special set for HBO Max.
So, imagine everyone’s surprise when Smith took to Instagram Thursday (September 10) to share a photo of the two engaged in what looked like a pleasant conversation.
Uploaded Thursday (September 10), Smith captioned the snap:
“Today is exactly 30 YEARS since The @FreshPrince of Bel-Air debuted! So we’re doin’ something for y’all… a for real Banks Family Reunion is comin’ soon to @HBOmax! RIP James. #FreshPrince30th.”
In the photo before the Hubert snap, Smith is joined by Daphne Maxwell Reid (Aunt Viv #2), Karyn Parsons (Hillary Banks), Alfonso Ribeiro (Carlton Banks), DJ Jazzy Jeff (Jazz), Tatyana Ali (Ashley Banks) and Joseph Marcell (Geoffrey the Butler).
HBO Max will reunite the stars of the hit sitcom in commemoration of its 30th anniversary. Anchored by Smith, the NBC show launched in September 10, 1990 and wrapped in 1996 after six hugely successful seasons.
The reunion special, which is being taped September 10, 2020, will premiere on the streamer at Thanksgiving. Click here to read more.
