More on the honor below…
A multi-dimensional talent, the Oscar and Emmy winner has made a measured mark in front of the camera and is now veering behind it in her forthcoming directorial debut – ‘One Night In Miami.’
Alongside her film activity, King has used her voice to champion social causes – such as voting and amplifying margalized voices.
All has led to her deservingly being presented with the salute.
Speaking on her journey, King told PEOPLE:
“I feel like this is the path I was supposed to be on.
I don’t necessarily see it as a renewed purpose. But I have a little more power now, in my choices, and in my ability to amplify a message. I have things I’m very passionate about. And I feel very lucky to be able to use my art and my voice collectively.”
